La Chemise Rouge, Oil Painting Portrait of Nicole in Chicago

Nicole modelled for me at an art gallery in Chicago’s north side. She was an amazing model with a knack for expressive an dynamic poses. She incorporated her hands nicely, and included environmental elements in a very natural way.

In the oil painting, Nicole is looking at the viewer in a vulnerable and intrigued manner. The brushstrokes are lively yet controlled, and the paint colors are natural looking but also suggest reflective hues from the surrounding direct and reflective light. The atmospheric background was painted is cool blues and violets to push the subject’s lovely red chemise and sanguinely posed figure to the forefront. Nicole caresses her body with her hands she holding her weight on one side of her body. She tilts her head toward one side and gazes at the viewers eyes with a forthcoming smirk on her lips.
