Two Candles, Watercolor on Paper, 7/8/2012

I picked up some watercolors which I haven’t used in many, many years. And did a still life of two candles I have in my home. They are two very nicely scented Yankee candles that are sitting on a ledge next to each other. One is lit and and the yellow-orange wax is illuminated and the accompanying candle is violet, capped, and has a reflection of the flame on the side. I used a lot of wet on wet techniques that shows in the pigments bleeding into each other with some dry brush on many of the details.

  1. Wow, just wow…. accomplishing something like a still life of something moving and in watercolors is remarkable and I swear I can almost catch a glimpse of the inviting smell from these. Thank you very much for sharing!
