Curves is an Acrylic painting that was made in early 2011. It focuses on the elegant curves of the nude female torso while using interesting color juxtapositions and lively, confident brushwork. The palette consists of cadmium orange, cadmium yellow, dioxazine purple, sap green, titanium white, and a little cerulean blue in the background. It celebrates the sensuality of the female form in a unique and interesting way with the choice of color and it’s application. The typical soft rendering and subtle tan hues are substituted with raw brush marks and jarring contrasts between deep violet and intense orange. Darker midtones are painted with an unexpected sap green that awkwardly transition between the highlights and shadows, but despite this awkwardness, the forced transition successfully renders a form normally painted with tans and browns.
